Lie derivative of a 1-form in the canonical coframe

Let (x1,…,xm) be local coordinates on a manifold M, with the canonical coframe {dx1,…,dxm} and its dual frame {∂1,…,∂m}. Write

X=Xj∂j,ω=ωidxi.

Then

(LXω)i=Xj∂jωi+ωj∂iXj

with the Einstein summation convention. This is the coordinate (connection-free) form of the formula for LX on 1-forms.

Derivation from Cartan's formula

By the Cartan formula, LXω=d(iXω)+iXdω. The two terms are

iXω=Xjωj⟹d(iXω)=∂i(Xjωj)dxi=(ωj∂iXj+Xj∂iωj)dxi,iXdω=(Xj∂jωi−Xj∂iωj)dxi,

where in the second line dω=12(∂jωk−∂kωj)dxj∧dxk and iX(dxj∧dxk)=Xjdxk−Xkdxj. Adding both contributions, the terms Xj∂iωj cancel and the formula follows. ◼
